Music and the Arts If you love the arts and music, you've come to the right place. Each year, it seems the number of exhibits and concerts grows. You've never experienced the soul nurturing quality of classical music until you've experienced it al fresco in the magnificent mountains of southwest Colorado!
Providing that sustenance, the Music in the Mountains concert series, held in Pagosa Springs, Durango, and the Bootjack Ranch at the base of Wolf Creek Pass, features classical musicians from around the world. This year's world-class festival of classical music will feature more than 35 concerts performed by world-renowned musicians and offer orchestral, chamber, conservatory, and pops concerts. Free performances for children and their families are featured during the Festival.
Pagosa Springs is blessed with a very active arts council, insipred no doubt by the incredible physcial beauty of our surroundings. A driving force in the arts, the Pagosa Springs Arts Council coordinates exhibits, classes, and performances throughout the year. The Pagosa Springs Arts Council was founded in 1988 by a group of artists who felt the positive response to their artistic efforts from the community and saw the need for an organized arts group. In 1992 the Pagosa Springs Arts Center/Gallery was opened and still operates today.
If you love folk music, the annual Four Corners Folk Festival and FolkWest Indie Folk Fest in Pagosa is the place to be. Held on Reservoir Hill, overlooking Pagosa Springs, the two concert series feature independent and national award winning folk musicians of reknown from throughout the United States. The concerts, held rain or shine, are a great family attraction.
The Pagosa Music Boosters turns all of its profit back to our schools and community through a give-back philosophy that includes scholarships, instruments,
supplies, equipment and performing arts programs. Their primary ongoing financial support and responsibility is to our scholarship program, which supports selected college
students majoring in one of the areas of the performing arts. Scholarship support is also provided to students attending camps, festivals and other music and performing arts
related venues.
